BitTorrent – A peer to peer download software
If you are downloading torrents, finding the right program is key to successful downloads. So many programs are so advanced, many users can never figure out how to do it. Others process torrent files differently, so it may take some time to figure out how to get that set up properly. In other cases, you might be lucky to find the BitTorrent software that works for you.
BitTorrent is a peer to peer file distribution system that is designed to enable efficient distribution of large files. Torrent downloads are recognized automatically by the .torrent extension, and once you have this client installed, you can download .torrent files. BitTorrent is a full featured client interface that offers download management, scheduling, bandwidth allocation, UPnP port mapping, an integrated RSS reader and more. Remember that downloading some torrents is illegal, and they can be very simply tracked.
Once you’ve obtained the torrent file from wherever, you simply need to import it into BitTorrent. There are several ways of doing this.
• Click File then Add Torrent in BitTorrent (or press CTRL+O) and locate the torrent file.
• Double-click the torrent file. (Only works if you’ve associated .torrent files with BitTorrent – BitTorrent asks you if it should do this the first time you run it. If you clicked ‘No’, you can do this by going to Options, then Preferences in BitTorrent, then clicking Associate with .torrent files under Windows Integration.)
• (advanced) Click File then Add Torrent from URL in BitTorrent (or press CTRL+U), and enter a URL from which the .torrent file can be obtained.
BitTorrent 7 Features:
• Lightweight client
• Local peer discovery
• Configurable bandwidth scheduler
• Global and per-torrent speed limiting
• Quick-resumes for interrupted transfers
• RSS Downloader
• Trackerless support (Mainline DHT)
• Always Spyware-Free
